House concerts are a gathering of folks in a private home who love live, fresh music and the artists who provide it. House concerts are quickly becoming a sought after venue for musicians wishing to connect with their audience in a more intimate way. Our River Haus Concerts are a unique blend of gifted artists, great food and new friends in a beautiful, riverside setting. Our guest musicians join us for a relaxing supper on the banks of the Wenatchee River at River Haus in the Pines, B&B and then share their music in the comfort of the B&B living space with amazing sound and lighting. Our B&B guest rooms include the Haus Concert experience as part of their stay. Guest rooms are still available as are advance tickets for friends (this means you!) and locals. With a soothing blend of folk, pop, country and jazz, Jonathan Kingham usually comes armed with a huge tub of Red Vines, a quick wit, and has rapidly become a favorite on the northwest circuit. Many of our guests from his concert here last year have already received his latest CD Smooth Out the Lines featuring one our favorites “Grace”. The CD release party is June 6^th at the Benaroya Nordstrom Recital Hall. His third release, That Changes Everything, showcases a sound that is equally at home in a coffeehouse, theatre, or a lunchtime concert on the lawn, Jonathan is a versatile and in demand performer. In his first few years on the scene, he quickly developed into a seasoned performer while sharing the stage with the likes of Shawn Colvin, Michael McDonald, Doug Stone, Vanessa Carlton, Jonatha Brooke, and David Wilcox. Recent tours have found him on the road with such diverse acts as Julio Iglesias Jr. and Glen Phillips of Toad the Wet Sprocket. But it’s not only his live performances that are winning him fans and accolades. He took 1st place honors in the National Telluride Troubadour Songwriting Contest, The Unisong International Song Contest, as well as placing in the top five of the John Lennon Song Contest two years in a row. He was awarded 1st Place in the USA Songwriting Competitions’ Folk Category as well as the Overall Grand Prize. One thing for sure, you want to be here for this unique, house concert opportunity, and experience the energy, creativity, and talent that is “Jonathan Kingham.”

Michael Powers has been integrated with the Seattle Music scene for over 30 years. He graduated from the prestigious Cornish College of the Arts in 1982. Says Powers, “I learned how to play by sitting in at as many places as I could, developing eclectic tastes by playing with all types of bands: Jazz, Rock, Blues, R&B, and Top 40. I wanted to learn how to play any kind of music that featured a guitar as a solo voice.” Influenced by a diverse group of musicians including Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, George Benson, Miles Davis, and Kevin Eubanks, Michael has shared billings with piano giant Herbie Hancock, classic Jazz saxophonist Eddie “Clean Head” Vinson, the legendary Ray Charles, Afro-pop star King Sunny Ade, Grammy award-winning vocalist Diane Schuur, R&B greats Gladys Knight and the Pips and Jazz artists Ronny Jordan, Tom Grant, David Benoit, sax great Ernie Watts, the Yellowjackets, and the duo of Tuck & Patti. “It’s hard to categorize my music, although it usually ends up in the Jazz record bins,” says Michael. “If I had to put a label on it, I would call it contemporary instrumental music. It’s a sound rooted in the Jazz tradition that keeps pace stylistically with Pop, R&B, and Blues; with Blues being at the core of my inspiration.” The Tacoma News Tribune says, “Michael Powers has established himself among a new breed of guitarists and composers who, with each album and every performance, continually redefines the guitars’ role in the jazz context. His technique is stunning, but he never employs it at the expense of the musicality of the melodic line. Blues has always been at the core of Michael’s inspiration and expression.”

Steve’s passion is the ability music has to transform people in an instant. He is a composer, performer and presenter. Connecting with an audience is his gift and he reminds us of John Denver and James Taylor. He is a personable and talented singer songwriter with a gracious spirit and the desire to make a positive difference in this world. Meeting and experiencing this engaging singer songwriter was definitely a highlight of our Maui vacation in May. A gifted and seasoned entertainer Gail Swanson’s inviting sense of humor blends beautifully with her sweet and vulnerable vocal delivery.

Maui based performer Gail Swanson has just released her 5^th CD. “Simple Truth” includes 3 songs produced by her good friend (Doobie Brother) Pat Simmons. Pat lined up all-star players and also played guitar and sang harmonies. Special musical guests also include Gail’s friends Willie Nelson, Michael McDonald, John McFee, Hutch Hutchinson and more.

Gail has opened for Melissa Etheridge, Lisa Loeb, The Doobie Brothers, David Crosby and CPR, The Radiators, Cecilio and Kapono and has done numerous shows with Willie Nelson and Pat Simmons. She has also played at Willie Nelson’s Maui Music Festival where Gail and her band have shared the lineup with Jack Johnson, Los Lonely Boys and Ricki Lee Jones. We are thrilled that Gail will travel from Maui to play our River Haus Concert Series on October 23rd, and we know you will love her too!!

Heavily influenced by a wide range of singer/songwriters including Ani Difranco, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Lisa Loeb, Bonnie Raitt and more, Gail’s style is acoustic rock with some songs crossing over into the folk and country genres.

LeRoy Bell and Friends are coming back to finish what they started, our River Haus in the Pines 2010 concert series! LeRoy, along with his “only friends” bass player, Terry Morgan and drummer, Davis Martin rocked the house when they performed here in April. Their music has become part of our daily life and we are so happy that they are returning in November for another show. Your $35 ticket includes dessert. As half of the youthful songwriting team Bell & James, Casey James and LeRoy Bell are the authors of Elton John’s Grammy-nominated 1979 Top Ten hit, “Mama Can’t Buy You Love,” and Elton’s 2004 #1 British single “Are You Ready For Love”. For LeRoy writing became the main focus allowing him to collaborate with legendary songwriter/producer Thom Bell (his uncle) and Casey James penning songs for The Spinners, The OJays, Rita Marley, The Temptations, Johnny Mathis, Phyllis Hyman and many more. Only recently has LeRoy surfaced as the singer/songwriter he is today.

Gaining early acceptance and warm reception, he has recently performed with B.B. King, Al Green, Taj Mahal, Jackie Green, Keb Mo, LeAnn Rimes, The Temptations, The O’Jays, Mavis Staples, Colin Hay, Leon Russell, Sonny Landreth, Kenny Loggins, The Young Dubliners and others.

His first solo release “SPENDING TIME ” (2003)gained critical acclaim for the unique “acoustic soul” sound. Bell speaks through his personal observations and musical lyricism. Written by LeRoy Bell, the sonic stratification of multiple guitars, strings, percussion and bass, provide the lush layers and textures that allow Bell’s earthy, soulful voice to whisper and soar with emotion.

“A CHANGE IS COMING” is LeRoy Bell’s fourth solo release and represents a major leap for the singer/songwriter. Not only has he grown as a touring artist, but the experience has given his music an edge that places him into a league of performers creating a sound that crosses many demographics. The songs were born from LeRoy Bell’s multiple perspectives of life. Taking a cue from his roots, the soul and R&B styles incorporated into “Change” plays out on the contemporary musical field with an optimistic perspective in these trying times. “A CHANGE IS COMING” is heartfelt, honest and much needed in a world of too many uncertainties to count. US Olympic training at Mission Ridge

The United States Men’s Olympic Slalom Team will Train at Mission Ridge sometime between February 21-25. This will include 2006 Gold Medalist Ted Ligety and returning team member Bode Miller. Skiing conditions are great at Mission so come check it out. We’ll include two free lift tickets with a two night minimum stay February 21st-25th.
